Green Water

Green Water is a form of algae that is suspended in the water, the algae is in very fine particles too small to be removed by a filter, this is caused by excess sunlight so is a problem for ponds in the height of summer. There are two ways of dealing with this, the first is a long term way which also has other benefits and will cost more initialy but pays off after a few years; this is to install a UV system, this clears the water by killing the green water algae particle and making them flocculate (clump together) making them big enough to be removed by the filter.
The second method is a chemical treatment these chemicals work in much the same way by making the particles clump together so they are removed by the filter, however these chemicals can be expensive and must be re-treated to make any lasting impact making the UV system a better investment.

Ultra Violate (UV)

Ultra Violate systems are primarily for green water control where they make the green water particles flocculate (clump together) allowing them to be picked up by the filter. However a UV System will also act as a sterilizer if it is powerful enough, this means that it will begin to kill bactirium and parastites. UV tubes and bulbs are only efficint for six months, we recomend that you change it once a year during spring, this means you get the best efficiency out of it during the summer when you need it most.
